LET'S TACO 'BOUT FINDING THE JOY

Real talk: we could all use a way to find more joy in our every day. That's why we're dubbing this the “Summer of Disco".

We all have our daily checklists to tick through, not to mention all of the day’s twists and turns we didn’t plan for, but how do we make time for joy in the process? The secret to feeling happy is realizing that finding joy needs to be intentional. Think about the things that bring you pleasure, and infuse one of those activities into each 24-hour cycle. An example of a day’s “joyful activity” could be as simple as spending 30 minutes reading outside or might require a bit more planning, like going to dinner with friends you haven’t seen in a while. The human need for joy is actually one big reason why we put our veggies in a taco.

Know that you’re overdue for some joy, and looking for new ideas? Join us on the evening of Thursday, June 23rd at SoulFire Collective - our Bethesda neighbors! Come get sweaty in a high-energy, disco music-thumping workout, then stay for some deliciously healthy tacos and locally-brewed craft beer from local, women-owned Denizens Brewing Co.

What Does Pride Mean to Us?

At Chaia, celebrating Pride isn’t just about a moment in time and it isn’t just about hanging a Pride flag outside of our businesses. Pride is fostering the professional growth and development of our LGBTQ+ staff, listening to and supporting our transgender team members through a broken legal system, and celebrating the achievements of our LGBTQ+ “Chaia family”, such as hosting the launch of a book by a former team member.

From first dates, rehearsal dinners - and even wedding afterparties (where guests danced the night away to ABBA’s “Dancing Queen” - we told you disco was back!), we feel honored and humbled that our restaurants are the places where LGBTQ+ individuals feel they can be their true and authentic selves.

So while we celebrate Pride this month, know that our doors are always open to continue the celebration year-round.
